Sieczka leads Poland to outplay Argentina

 

Poland celebrate scoring a point against Argentina

Formosa, Argentina, July 12, 2015 – Poland accomplished a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 27-25) win over hosts Argentina in Pool L of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Stadium Sincuentario on Sunday.

Ewelina Sieczka topped all scorers with 15 points. Aleksandra Sikorska also helped out Poland in scoring with 13 points, while Julieta Constanza Lazcano scored nine points for the losing side.

Poland started the first set with an 8-6 lead, which they sustained throughout the set. Argentina saved the first set point but a block on Yamila Nizetich sealed the set victory 25-21. Poland and Argentina fought closely in the second set, which resulted to a tied score at 9-all. Argentina found better rhythm than their opponents and took a 14-11 lead. Poland still trailed Argentina at 18-16 but they eventually regained the lead 22-21 from two aces. Poland matched the Argentine intensity and raced first to end the second set 25-23.

Argentina led again in the third set 9-6 but Anna Grejman lifted Poland to grab the lead 11-10. Poland started to increase their lead as they sent out powerful serves across the Argentine court 18-14. Poland, however, committed four consecutive errors that allowed Argentina to inch in closer 19-18. Argentina regained the lead 23-22 courtesy of Leticia Boscacci’s block. Sikorska’s two crucial points on a block and service ace closed the set and match for Poland 27-25.
