Canada coach Ludwig: "We controlled Argentina"

The Canadian serve proved lethal in their match against Argentina

Formosa, Argentina, July 10, 2015 – Canada ended Argentina’s winning streak at home with a 3-1 win in Pool L of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix on Friday.

Canada coach Arnd Ludwig: “We had a good start but we lost control in the first set, then there was a big change in the second set when we were 2-8 down and came back winning the set. I think we controlled Argentina and made a really good match.”

Canada captain Brittany Page: “It was good for us to win in four sets. We had strong serve and we stayed constant throughout the game, which took away some of their top players. They are a strong team and we knew we had to stay focused all the time in order to win.”

Argentina coach Guillermo Orduna: “Even if we won this, I wouldn’t have been happy because we didn’t play in our level. I will not make any excuses but Canada played an excellent game on the serve. We need to recover fast and start thinking of tomorrow’s game against Netherlands.”

Argentina captain Yamila Nizetich: “We could not maintain the level that we have shown in other matches. We had a lot of mistakes and our plays were inconsistent – with good and bad moments. Now, we need to focus on the Netherlands.”
