Chausheva cuts down Puerto Rico as Bulgaria end weekend on high

Bulgaria had too much firepower for the Puerto Ricans

Samokov, July 12, 2015 – Bulgaria beat Puerto Rico (28-26, 25-20, 25-15), with Silvana Chausheva shining during a straight-set demolition.

The first set began extremely evenly, with Silvana Chausheva and Desislava Nikolova scoring well for Bulgaria, and Lynda Morales and Karina Ocasio catching the eye for the Puerto Ricans. The score ran up to 26-26, but two Puerto Rican errors then handed Bulgaria the set win, 28-26.

Bulgaria took their form into set two, and with Chausheva and Nikolova on a real streak of scoring, they out-served, spiked and blocked their opponents to win the set 25-20. And Puerto Rico’s resistance seemed to crumble in the final set, as they made far too many mistakes. Bulgaria won 25-15, to take the match 3-0.

Chausheva was the top scorer in the match with 21 points. Ocasio got 11 for Puerto Rico. Follow our live match text commentary here
