Colombia roll on with another 3-0 win

Colombia's 3-0 win against Kazakhstan was their fourth victory from their first five World Grand Prix starts

Trujillo, Peru, July 4, 2015 - Colombia beat Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday for their second straight-sets win in succession to open play in Pool P. Despite a game-high 15 points from Kazakhstan's Sana Anarkulova, Cindy Maria Ramirez (12 points) and Amanda Coneo (11 points) ensured Colombia became just the second team from the Americas to win four of their first five World Grand Prix matches (Cuba in 1993).

Ramirez started the match brightly and guided Colombia to an 11-7 first-set lead. Kazakhstan rallied and worked their way to a 17-16 advantage, but an ace from Ivonne Daniela Montano and a powerful spike by Yeisy Soto helped Colombia regain control of the set and eventually take it 25-19.

Anarkulova was busy early in the second set and Kazakhstan took a 7-4 buffer. An ace from Soto kept Colombia in touch at 9-11 and by the second TTO they led 16-12. Colombia went on to win the second set 25-22 and secure a 2-0 lead.

Several Kazakhstan errors and a Montano block helped Colombia to a 10-6 lead in the third and they never looked back, pushing to a 25-19 third set win to take the match 3-0.
