Brazil coach Guimaraes: “It was an important win, but we always want more”

Brazil dazzled – but they can get better, say their coach

Sao Paulo, July 12, 2015 – Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes said his side “wants more” after their excellent 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-24) win over Germany in the FIVB World Grand Prix.“It was an important win, but we always want more,” he said. “We still need to get better on the defensive side. Germany served really well and we needed to adjust our receiving throughout the match. The three matches here in Sao Paulo were really positive and now we need to focus in the next round and in the Pan American Games”.Brazil’s Joyce Silva added: “I did not play well last match, but Jose Roberto (Brazil coach) encouraged me and I am happy that I could help the team more today. I am still adapting to the way our team plays. But the most important thing is that we are still undefeated”.Germany head coach Luciano Padulla said: “It was an incredible match. We had the lead in the first set and, in my opinion, a big mistake from the referees made us lose it. I am not saying Brazil would not win in the end, but it would have been a different match. I have to congratulate Brazil, as they always have a very good system, and also my team, that played really well against one of the best teams in the world”.Germany captain Margareta Kozuch added: “I am not satisfied, it is hard to speak now. We played very well, we never gave up, even in the third set, when were way behind Brazil, but I have the feeling that it would have been a different match if we had won the first set.  In my opinion, the referees made a mistake in the end when we requested the challenge”.
