Peru to meet Colombia for first time in World Grand Prix

These
teams will meet for the first time in the World Grand Prix as Colombia are
making their debut.

Peru
lost both of their World Grand Prix meetings with CSV opposition. Brazil (1994)
and Argentina (2014) beat Peru in straight sets.

Peru
beat Kenya in straight sets in their opening match.


· 
Angela
Leyva led the team to victory scoring 22 of a total 75 points.


· 
For
Peru this marked only their second straight set win in World Grand Prix
competition. In august 2014 they managed a 3-0 win over Cuba in Division B.

Peru
make their fourth World Grand Prix participation after 1994 (11th), 2011 (16th)
and 2014 (18th).


· 
Last
year, Peru won three matches in the World Grand Prix. In their first two
participations they won one.


· 
In
2014, they played their first two five-setters in the competition, winning one
and losing one.


 

Colombia

· 
Colombia
are the only debutants at the 2015 World Grand Prix.


· 
Yesterday
they won in their first ever World Grand Prix match beating Mexico 3-0 with a
total points score of 75-52.


· 
Cindy
Maria Ramirez and Amanda Coneo were Colombia's top scorer in this match scoring
12 points each. Maria Margarita Martinez scored 10 points


· 
Apart
from the inaugural tournament of the World Grand Prix in 1993, only three other
teams have won their first ever match in the competition: Turkey in 2008, Czech
Republic in 2013 and Kenya in 2014.


· 
Colombia
is be one of four teams representing the CSV at the 2015 World Grand Prix
alongside Argentina, Brazil and Peru.
