Bronze medal can't ease disappointment for Colombia

Colombia dominated all afternoon against Australia

Canberra, Australia, July 12, 2015 – Colombia entered the Group 3 Final Four as the highest ranked finalists but had to settle for bronze after losing to Peru in the semifinal in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Colombia coach Eduardo Guillaume: "Emotionally I am very disappointed, because we know we could play the finals. Everyone in this Colombian team is young, and every time we play, it is emotionally very significant. I am a little disappointed because we expected to play in the finals. We trained early this morning very early, and tried to focus on the humour."

Colombia captain Maria Alejandra Marin: "We're happy with the result today. Yesterday we lost concentration and made a lot of mistakes. It would have been better to play in the final, but if we played for the bronze and we won, then we are happy. We are a very young team and we have to keep working to obtain our goals."

Australian coach Mark Barnard: "One of the things as we progressed through World Grand Prix, our passing brought us undone. But it didn't tonight. We just made a lot of mistakes, and you just can't do that. We gave them a lot of free ball and we can't do that."

Retiring Australian setter Lauren Bertolacci: "I'm pretty proud of what we did, we showed pretty good spirit. I think they are going to do some pretty good things in years to come."
