Germany celebrate a point

Ningbo, China, July 5, 2015 - Germany were in rampant form in Ningbo as they overwhelmed a Domincan Republic side who were slow out of the blocks as Maren Brinker scored 13 points for the European side to lead them to a 3-0 (25-6, 25-18, 25-23) win over the Caribbean side

Germany sprang out of the blocks in their clash with the Dominican Republic, racing into a 12-0 lead before a block secured them their first point of the game. However there was to be no let-up from the European side with Maren Brinker already beginning to pile up the points as they went 18-2 in front. Though a few errors began to creep into the German game, they were too far ahead for the Domincan Republic to bounce bacn and they wrapped up the first set 25-6 for a 1-0 lead.

Germany were again first out of the blocks in the second set, though Dominican Republic were fighting hard to stay only 7-3 down at the first time-out. Germany were in no mood to let the Caribbean side force their way back into the contest as Brinker helped to increase the lead to five points at 16-11. The gap once again slowly increased as Germany took the second set 25-18 for a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Dominican Republic needed to come out of the blocks quick in the third set if they were to extend the tie further and duly opened up an early 4-2 lead. Germany were not about to let them surge ahead however and cut the lead to one point before another surge from the Caribbean side saw them go 11-8 in front. Germany pegged them back once again to level at 15-15 but the Dominican Republic seemed intent on going into a fourth set as they took an 20-16 lead. However Germany fought back to shock Domincan Republic to warp up the set 25-23 for a 3-0 victory
