Mieles: "Concentration was the key"

Puerto Rico coach Jose Mieles

Samokov, Bulgaria, July 10, 2015 - Coaches and captains gathered after Puerto Rico's 3-2 victory against the Czech Republic in Samokov to provide their thoughts on the match.

Carlo Parisi, coach of Czech Republic: "In the first two sets we played without concentration. Then in the third and especially in the fourth we put on a great performance. But in the tie-break we were nervous. It’s normal. Our team is young, and we don’t have enough experience in tournaments like the World Grand Prix. But we played a good match after the second set."

Jose Mieles, coach of Puerto Rico: "We are very happy with the victory. This win is historic for us, because for the first time we defeat the Czech Republic. I’m very proud of my players. They played at a high level in the tie-break. My girls were very concentrated. That was the key."

Yarimar Rosa, captain of Puerto Rico: "We are very happy with the win. I think that we could have won in the three sets, but it’s not the first time when we lead with 2:0, and after that get the victory in five sets. But it is always good to win, no matter how – in three or five sets!"

Helena Havelkova, captain of Czech Republic: "Today we played with 12 players, because we started the match with 6 but our subs from the bench made the game. I want to congratulate them. They did really well. Puerto Rico was defending very well. The match was very tough, but I think that was good for us."
