Vansant impressive for USA in victory over Belgium

Ankara, Turkey, July 5, 2015 - Krista Vansant has a haul of 22 points as the USA power past Belgium 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-18) who are no match for the in-form American side in Ankara. Belgium remain in third place in Preliminary Pool C after being overwhelmed by the Americans

The USA started strong in their match with Belgium taking an early 5-2 lead and the favourites were hoping to wrap up the first set quickly as they raced into a seven point lead at 17-10, that seemed to shock the Belgians into action. The deficit was reduced to four points at 20-16 but the USA led by the exciting Krista Vansant were in no mood to allow their opponents to sneak back into the set and wrapped up the set 25-19 to take a 1-0 lead in the tie.

Belgium began the second set hping to get themselves back into the tie but could not seem to pull away from the American side who kept the score within two, early in the set. The USA duly levelled up at 8-8 before Belgium again made a sprint for the second set line, before once again they were pegged back as Vansant led her team ahead at 21-19 as they wrapped up the second set without losing another point by 25-20 for a 2-0 lead.

The Belgians needed to bounce back quickly if they were to extend the game into a fourth set but quickly found themselves behind from the off, as the USA secured a five point lead at 10-5. The USA seemed relentless in their quest to wrap up a straight sets victory as the lead hit 14-7. At this point it was make or break time for the European side and they had no answer to the Vansant and the American pressure as they steam-rolled ahead at 18-7 before wrapping up a comfortable straight sets win with a 25-18 for a 3-0 win
