China's Yuan Xinyue attacks against FIVB World Grand Prix Finals hosts USA's Kelsey Robinson and Christa Dietzen
Lausanne, Switzerland, July 18, 2015 – The 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix Finals Round is sure to provide many exciting moments from the first serve on July 22 through final point on July 26 as six of the top seven teams in the world will be on the world stage in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.
The Finals opens with a bang on July 22 with Brazil meeting China to start the day, followed by Italy against Russia and host USA versus Japan.
The second day of competition starts with Brazil challenging Russia, followed by Japan against China and USA hosting Italy. The competition’s middle day begins with Brazil versus Japan, followed by China against Italy and USA finishing against Russia.
The fourth day has China playing Russia to start the day, followed by USA against Brazil and Italy playing Japan. The final day’s competition begins with USA hosting China, followed by Italy versus Brazil and Japan versus Russia.
In head to head-to-head matches during the preliminary round, China have wins over Russia, Italy, Japan (twice) and the United States for a 5-0 record. Brazil hold wins over Japan, Russia and Italy for a 3-0 record. The USA defeated Italy, Russia and Japan and are 3-1 with their only loss to China.
Italy defeated Japan but are 1-4 against the Finals field with losses to USA, China, Russia and Brazil. Russia are 1-3 against Finals Round teams with a win over Italy against losses to China, USA and Brazil. Japan are 0-5 against the Finals participants with losses to Brazil, Italy, China (twice) and USA.
This year marks the first time that the U.S. will host the Finals in the 23-year history of the event, which is the premier annual international women’s volleyball tournament.
