China won five successive points to claim a 13-8 lead in the opening set but some good USA blocking helped them wipe away China's advantage. Foluke Akinradewo was serving well for USA and they took the set 25-22.

Zhu Ting was prominent at the start of the second set and along with Hui Ruoqi helped China take control of the set and win it 25-13. China continued their dominance early in the third and USA errors were proving costly for the visitors. Zhu remained central to China's progress and they took the third 25-22.
