Kosianenko: Even with difficulties we were able to stay as a team

 

Russia celebrate their win over Italy to open the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals opener

Omaha, Nebraska, USA (July 22, 2015) - Russia rallied to win the first two sets, then won the third set handily to sweep Italy on the opening day of the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals in Omaha, Nebraska, USA on Wednesday evening.

Russia Coach Yury Marichev: "It was a bit a bit tough for our team, but we performed pretty well."



Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko: "We did pretty well considering the last couple weeks. Even with these difficulties we were able to stay as a team."



Italy Coach Marco Bonitta: The first two sets, we played point-for-point. But in the end of the set we got some mistakes and lost the sets. Russia played very good. We were not good in block against their block. Now we must think about tomorrow."



Italy captain Valentina Arrighetti: We are a really, really young team. Maybe we were a bit unlucky."
