China breeze past Dominican Republic

 

Ningbo, China, July 3, 2015 – China posted a big straight-set (25-15, 25-12, 25-9) victory over Dominican Republic in Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Beilun Sports and Arts Centre on Friday.

Hui Ruoqi led China with 13 points, while team-mate Yuan Xinyue scored 11 points. Erasma Moreno Martinez scored 10 points for the Dominican Republic.

China rallied to a 8-3 lead to open the first set and succeeded in their attack rampage that ballooned to a 10-point lead at 18-8. Dominican Republic struggled and only scored a couple of points before they conceded the set 25-15.

Dominican Republic had a better start in the second set but the home team’s attackers overwhelmed the Dominican defenders 25-12. In the third set, China played its strongest game hitting on all angles and defending well to give them a huge cushion 14-3. China missed two match points but Zhang Changning delivered on the third try to seal the set and match victory 25-9.
