China down Italy to cruise to second victory

 

Saitama, Japan, July 11, 2015 - China defeated Italy 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-16, 25-19) to register second victory in as many matches and to extend the lead in pool E.

The first set saw an even start of the match as both teams traded points until 8-8. Then Ting Zhu served an ace to put China 13-10 ahed. Italy were trying to stop the opposition's momentum by calling a timeout with a timeout at 18-10 down, but China managed to make it 20-12 and lost their focus allowing the Italians to win seven consecutive points to reduce the margin at 21-17. A block from Ting Zhu marked the 25th point in China's favour who take the set 25-21.

In the second set Italy jumped early out to 5-1 and managed to keep an advantage until 10-8. A block from Ruoqi Hui found China leveling the scores up at 12-12, but the second technical timeout saw Italy with a slender advantage 16-15. After a won challenge and an ace from Valentina Diouf Italy pulled away into a 19-15 lead which they managed to keep eventually taking the set 25-20.

Set three started with China's advantage 8-4 at the first technical timeout which the extended to eight points at 13-5 after an ace from Chunlei Zeng. Italy were not able to put a solid resistance and lost the set 25-16. Set four followed the similiar pattern as China took an early 8-3 lead and kept their momentum to close the set 25-19.
