Dominicans looking for first win as they face Italy

· Italy have won 11 of their 13 World Grand Prix matches against Dominican Republic.
· Last year, Italy claimed a 3-0 win. It was the sixth time they beat Dominican Republic in straight sets in the World Grand Prix.
· Dominican Republic won both World Grand Prix matches between these two that went into a deciding fifth set, in 2010 and in 2013.
· Dominican Republic's four wins against Italy in major competitions all came in five sets, including a first round win against the 2014 World Championship in Italy.

Dominican Republic
· Dominican Republic remained the only team without a set won at the 2015 World Grand Prix, when they fell to Japan on Saturday.
· Dominican Republic are on a 10-match losing streak in the World Grand Prix. They look to avoid equaling their second-longest winless run in the competition, 11 in 2004-2005. Negative record for Dominican Republic: 14 straight defeats in 2006-2007.
· Dominican Republic have lost their last five matches in straight sets, equaling their longest run without a set in the competition. In their debut season 2004, they won their first set in their sixth match.

Italy
· Italy saw a three-match winning streak end, when China got the best of them on Saturday (3-1).
· Italy have won at least one set in each of their last 12 World Grand Prix matches. They have had two longer streaks of avoiding straight sets defeats: 19 matches in 2006-2007 and 16 matches in 2005-2006.
· Valentina Diouf collected 25 points on Saturday against China, most for an Italian in a World Grand Prix single match in 2015.
