Fe Garay and Carol crush Thais

Fe Garay was dominant as Brazil eased to victory

Sao Paulo, July 11, 2015 – Brazil beat Thailand 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 25-19) to continue their strong start to their FIVB World Grand Prix campaign.

The match started evenly with both sides trading points and exchanging the lead. Onuma Sittirak and Wilavan Apinyapong attacked well for the Thais, but with Fe Garay, Carol and Juciely on notable form, Brazil sneaked a 25-23 set one win.

The pattern continued in set two, with the teams rarely more than a couple of points apart. But Malika Kanthong started to score well for the Thais, and aided by Sittirak, they out-spiked Brazil to win the set 25-20. Set three saw Brazil storm back though, and the hosts won it 25-14, with Fe Garay leading the way. And they blocked superbly in the fourth set, too, taking a good early lead and carrying it through to win the set 25-19, and the match 3-1.

Onuma Sittirak of Thailand was the match’s top scorer with 19 points. Carol and Fe Garay got 17 points each for the Brazilians. Read out live text commentary here
