Last chance for Dominicans to pick up a win

 

Pool I: Dominican Republic - Turkey (18 July)

Head-to-Head
· Dominican Republic and Turkey have played two World Grand Prix matches against each other. Both teams have won once.
· Both World Grand Prix encounters were decided after five sets. Their total points scored are slightly in advance for Dominican Republic with 218 against 216.
· Their only meeting at the world championships was also decided in a five-setter. In a 2010 First Round match Turkey beat Dominican Republic.

Dominican Republic
· Dominican Republic have lost all of their eight matches in the 2015 WGP in straight sets. The only teams with a full campaign without winning a set have been Chinese Taipei in 2007 and Algeria in 2013.
· Dominican Republic combined for 50 points against Serbia on Friday. They reached the 50-point barrier for the first time in a single match in the 2015 WGP.
· For the fourth time in eight matches in the 2015 WGP, Erasma Moreno Martinez was Dominican Republic’s top scorer against Serbia. She crossed the 10-point mark for the third time.

Turkey
· After seven defeats, Turkey claimed their first victory in the 2015 WGP. They beat home side Germany in five sets.
· Turkey equalled their balance in five-setters in their WGP history with six wins and six defeats.
· In seven of eight matches, Polen Uslupehlivan was Turkey’s leading scorer. The only time she did not lead was on 4 July against United States, when Neriman Ozsoy was the only player with more points.
