Our block made us boss, says Brazil’s Barros

 

Brazil defended Russia's attacks superbly

Catania, July 16, 2015 – Brazil’s block was key as they beat Russia 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-17) in their FIVB World Grand Prix match on Thursday, said head coach Paulo de Rogo Barros. 

“We are very happy for this victory, especially for the performance of my team,” he said. “We did a great job with the block and made a hard match for the Russian team."

Brazil’s Gabi added: "We  played very well, and we absolutely want to enjoy our huge result. We are proud of our job, it was a really important team effort because we already knew it would be hard.”

Russia head coach Yury Marichev said: “This match was really important, because we tried out many young players. We hope it will be better tomorrow.”

Russia’s Irina Fetisova added: "I'm so sad about the result of the match. Many things didnt' work in our team.”
