Turkey face another tough match against USA

· These teams have met on four previous occasions in the World Grand Prix. They have won two apiece.

· Their most recent World Grand Prix clash also took place in Turkey (Ankara). In last year's World Grand Prix Turkey beat the United States 3-2.

· United States claimed their last World Grand Prix victory over Turkey in 2012, when they defeated them 3-1.

· Their last encounter at a major championship took place at last year's world championship. The Americans won 3-1.

· Turkey started off their campaign with a 3-0 defeat against Belgium, the team they also met in the last match of last year’s tournament (3-1 win for Turkey).

· Turkey lost the first set 13-25. This equalled their heaviest set defeat in the history of the competition. Last year, they also lost a first set 13-25, against Japan in the Final Round (3-0 Japan win).

· For the first time in World Grand Prix history, Turkey lost their first match. This is their fifth appearance.

· United States opened their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Italy, a revenge for the 3-2 defeat in the last mutual match in the World Grand Prix in 2013.

· United States won their 142nd match in the competition, only Brazil, China and Russia have won more.

· United States lost the opening set against Italy. This was their 400th conceded set in World Grand Prix history. They are the third team with 400+ sets lost, after Japan and China.

· In three of the last four World Grand Prix's in which United States started off with a victory, they also won the competition (2010-2012).
