USA celebrate Independence Day win after Lowe blows

Karsta Lowe (25) is in the thick of the action once again as she blocks from Turkey's top scorer Neriman Ozsoy (13)

Ankara, Turkey, July 4, 2015 – They had home advantage and the match’s top scorer, but Turkey still could not prevent Team USA from celebrating Independence Day with a 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 25-16, 25-21) in the World Grand Prix on Saturday evening.

It certainly was not for want of trying, and opposite spiker Neriman Ozsoy led the way for the home team, scoring 25 points and taking the game to the United States at every opportunity.

The USA took the first set, but Turkey struck back to level the match courtesy of a crashing spike from Polen Uslupehlivan in set two.

But Karsta Lowe top scored with six points as she helped USA regain their lead in the third, and fittingly it was she who scored the match’s final point to take her personal tally to 23 to tip the match in her team’s direction.
