We are focused, says Brazil’s Fe Garay

Brazil coach Guimaraes was happy with his side

Sao Paulo, July 11, 2015 – Brazil captain Fe Garay says Brazil kept their heads to beat Thailand 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 25-19) on Saturday.

"Our block was not good in the second set,” she said. “They were playing at a very high speed, and we could not find the right timing. Our serve was not great either. In the other sets, our serve was good, the block worked better and we played in a very strong pace. It was good for our focus, as we did not panic because we lost the second set.”

Brazil head coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes added: “Thailand has a good team and deserves respect. Losing one set is part of the game. Our receiving efficiency was very low today. We improved it in the last two sets and then we played better. The most important thing is that we add more points – that will be vital in the future.”

Thailand head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai claimed it was a “very difficult” match for the side. ”I am proud of my players and my staff because we won a set from one of the best teams in the world. We played really well in the first two sets, but Brazil changes some tactics and techniques. They were almost perfect in third and fourth quarters, especially in serving and blocking.”

Thailand captain Apinyapong Wilavan added: “We’re very happy to have this opportunity to play against Brazil. This match will be a great experience for all of us. We have a lot of young players in our roster and they learn a lot in matches like this. We made a lot of mistakes today and we hope we improve in all areas for our next match.”
