We need to get better, says USA coach Kiraly

USA took more of their chances on the day

Kaliningrad, July 11, 2015 – USA Coach Karch Kiraly said his side weren’t at their best, despite beating Turkey 3-1 (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21) to continue their unbeaten run in the FIVB World Grand Prix on Saturday.

“We expected a good game,” he said afterwards. “Turkey played well yesterday against Serbia. They almost won, and only lost by a little. We were not so good tonight, we need to improve a lot of things.”

USA Captain Courtney Thompson added: “They served really well. Turkey are a great team, but we will keep improving our skills.”

Turkey Coach Ferhat Akbas said: “We are really young team. We made all the substitutions. We tried our best and everything was fine today, but we could play better.”

Turkey Captain Onal Guldeniz added: “We played against this team in Ankara and we lost. They are really good team, they play very quickly. We are a young team, we tried to control the game and sometimes we played well. We will try to win the next match.”
