Porec, Croatia, July 5, 2015 – The Czech Republic claimed their second victory in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2015 Group 2 tournament in Porec.  On Sunday afternoon Carlo Parisi’s team defeated Argentina by 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19.  The Czechs hammered out 10 aces in this match; half of them were authored by Michaela Mlejnkova.  She topped the scorers’ chart of the game with a total of 20 points.  Argentina’s Leticia Boscacci fell one short to finish with 19.

The three aces that the Czech Republic scored certainly made a difference in the very competitive first set, when Argentina had the edge through the most part.  Tereza Vanzurova was responsible for two of them as well as for that final successful spike that closed the set at 25-23.  The South Americans took a comfortable 16-9 advantage in the second set.  But coming back from the technical time-out, the Czechs achieved a fantastic 9-point run to take the lead.  This turn of events inspired the European team to cruise to a swift 25-20 to win the set, continuing their good performance in serving and blocking.

After the third rally of the third set Argentina took the lead and never let it go.  The Czech Republic tries to stay close behind and even saved the first two of three consecutive set points for the opponent, but finally Florencia Natasha Busquets Reyes’s blockout converted the third one to a 25-23 win.

Argentina managed to stay competitive through 16-16 in the fourth set.  The Czechs started building momentum with three consecutive points and the opponents pretty much gave up.  Veronika Trnkova scored for the last point and the European side ended the set at 25-19 and the match at 3-1.
