Algeria coach Salvagny: “We know we cannot win against them”

Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan, June 27, 2015 – Cuba celebrated
their second win, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16) against Algeria in Pool N of the
FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Zhastar Sports Palace. Cuba have now
achieved the 500-set mark in World Grand Prix history with Saturday’s
straight-set victory.

Cuba assistant coach Luis Gabriel Oviedo said: We want to
commend Algeria because we know they played hard, they used their younger
players, and they put in maximum effort, point by point. For us, we also used
our younger players today and they must learn many things. They need to learn
how to grow and play with full concentration during the match.”

Cuba player Gretell Elena Moreno Borrero said: “Algeria had a
good performance, and we know they could push themselves better. Sometimes in
the match, it was difficult to play against them but we tried our best to win.”

Algeria coach Francois Salvagny said: “We know very well
that Cuba volleyball is not our level. In order for our kind of volleyball to
be ready, we played based on what we know. I’m very happy because some young
players were able to experience international competition. After school, they
will be ready for more international experience. We know we cannot win against
them, but for us it was a very interesting match.”

Algeria player Amina Redouani said: “We tried to do our best
with all the teams and all the players. We are happy to play this match today.
We tried to play with the younger players, and it was ok. For us, it was a good
result but we will try to be better in the other matches.”
