Algeria dig deep to outlast Australia 3-2 in World Grand Prix

 

Algeria won the first two and the fifth set against Australia

 Cheraga, Algeria, July 3, 2015 – Algeria had to fight hard to hold off Australia 3-2 (25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25, 15-10) in a tense Pool Q match in the FIVB World Grand Prix on Friday.

Algeria had to overcome some inspired Australian defence. The Australians picked up 16 blocking points to Algeria’s six but the Algerians had the advantage in aces, 8-3. Both teams made 32 errors. 

The top scorer in the match was Australia’s Rhiannon Rosalynd Tooker with 20 points, which included four blocks. Teammate Katarina Osadchuk contributed an impressive seven blocks. The top Algerian scorer was Safia Boukhima with 19 points, including three aces.
