FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, Day 3: Peru enjoys perfect opening weekend, Kazakhstan also three-from-three

 

Peru won their third match from as many starts across the opening weekend of the 2015 World Grand Prix

Monterrey, Mexico, June 28, 2015 - Peru beat Mexico 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) on Sunday to claim a perfect nine points from their first three matches of the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix. Peru are top of Pool O, while Kazakhstan are first in Pool N following their 3-2 (25-16, 12-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-13) win aginst Cuba. Algeria picked up their first ever World Grand Prix win and Colombia were also winners on day three of the 2015 tournament.

Peru captain Mirtha Uribe (2) scored a game-high 10 points in her side's 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) win against Mexico. Uribe said it was her team's ambition to finish the opening weekend in first position in Pool O.
Melissa Teresa Vargas Abreu scored a game-high 23 points for Cuba, but Sana Anarkulova's 17 points for Kazakhstan helped them to a 3-2 (25-16, 12-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13) win aginst Cuba and finish the weekend first in Pool N.
Colombia were all smiles after they beat Kenya 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20) in their Pool O clash, giving the World League debutants their second victory from their first three appearances in the competition.
Algeria's won their first ever World Grand Prix match, beating Australia 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-13) in Pool N, with Redouani Amina leading the way as the only player from either side to score in double figures.
