Issayeva and Anarkulova command Kazakh straight-set win

 

Kazakhstan's Sana Anarkulova spikes against the Algerian double block

Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan, June 26, 2015 – Lyudmila Issayeva and Sana Anarkulova charted 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead Kazakhstan in their 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-20) win over Algeria in Pool N of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix at the Zhastar Sports Palace on Friday.

Kazakhstan easily gained edge in the each set as Issayeva manned the middle while Anarkulova torched the Algerian block with her feisty attack from the flank.

Kazakhstan and Algeria bared strong game plans that enabled each side to immediately counter, which resulted to a tight contest in the first set. Yekaterina Zhdanova countered from the wing to tie the score at 22-all to give Kazakhstan the momentum and race to the end of the set with a slim advantage 25-23.

Algeria trailed Kazakhstan at the start of the second set but drew near as the Kazakhs began to commit errors on the attack. Algeria succeeded as they deadlocked at 8-all, but the home team fired six consecutive points to provide them with bigger cushion at 14-8. The Kazakhs rallied to score a 25-17 win in the second set.

In the third set, Kazakhstan’s offence thrived at the middle of the third set with a 12-6 lead but visiting team trimmed the lead as the home side were stricken by a string of errors. Algeria trailed Kazakhstan 18-16 but were got stuck as Kazakhstan made another run to finally end the set and match 25-20.
