Kenya beat Mexico again, this time in straight sets

Kenya started the tournament in Algeria with a straight-set win

Cheraga, Algeria, July 3, 2015 – Kenya achieved their second victory in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2015 Group 3 and once again it was Mexico that suffered at the hands of the African squad.  Unlike last weekend, when the Mexicans lasted for five sets at home, this time, in Algeria, the Kenyans hammered out a straight-set 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-22) win, with Mercy Moim topping the charts with 17 points.  Mexico’s top scorer was Dulce Carranza, who managed 15 points for her team.

The Mexican team tried to resist the attacks of the athletic Kenyan volleyballers, but committed far too many unforced errors, which made the biggest difference in this game.  This and the blocking, which worked much better on the African side, especially for Ruth Jepngetich, who scored 5 points from that element.  The third set was the most interesting one in the match as Mexico fought on and inspired by the great efforts by Jazmin Hernandez and substitute Karina Angelica Flores Gamez was close to a partial success.
