Peru sweep Mexico 3-0 to stay top of Pool O

Monterrey, Mexico, June 28, 2015 - Peru made light work of Pool O opponents Mexico, maintaining top spot in the standings with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) win. Mirtha Uribe scored a game-high 10 points for Peru as Mexico struggled, committing 35 errors in the match.

In the first set, Mexico's defence was strong early and when Dulce Carranza spiked truly, the hosts led 7-2. Things changed from there though as Peru found some momentum and flipped things right around to enjoy a 20-14 lead. With Angela Leyva and Uribe prominent, Peru took the opening set 25-16.

Mexico again started well in the second but errors started to prove costly and Peru overcame an early deficit to lead 16-10. Uribe remained strong and Peru took the second set 25-17 to claim a 2-0 advantage.

Leyva spiked successfully to give Peru a 5-3 buffer in the third. Carla Rueda was big on the block for Peru and despite two aces from Lizbeth Sainz, Mexico were unable to force a fourth set as Peru took it 25-12 and the match 3-0.
