Tight match expected as Peru take on Kazakhstan

Pool P: Peru - Kazakhstan (5 July)

Head-to-Head
· Peru and Kazakhstan have not met at the World Grand Prix before.
· Peru have lost all of their five previous World Grand Prix matches against AVC teams, four of which in straight sets. They only took a set against Korea in 1994: 3-1.
· Kazakhstan are currently in 19th place on the FIVB World Ranking. Peru are 23rd.

Peru
· On Saturday, Peru beat Cuba 3-0 to bounce back from a straight set defeat against Colombia on Friday.
· Their win against Cuba was their fourth in 2015. In all of their three previous WGP seasons combined (1994, 2001, 2014) they also claimed four wins (in 27 total matches).
· Until this year, Peru had won only one match in straight sets. In 2015, they have achieved this three times already.

Kazakhstan
· After winning all three matches in Week 1, Kazakhstan are winless this weekend. They went down in straight sets to Cuba and Colombia.
· Still, Kazakhstan can win four of their first six matches of a WGP campaign for the first time in team history. Their best ever start came last year, with three victories in their first six matches.
· Kazakhstan will look to avoid losing three successive matches in straight sets. This has not happened to them since 2011, when Brazil, Thailand and Poland all beat them 3-0.
· This will be Kazakhstan’s 50th match in the World Grand Prix (9 wins, 40 defeats in the first 49).
